High Quality Instructional Materials

  • Quick Reference Guide: High-Quality Instructional Materials in Science
    This guide provides a description of how materials are designated as high-quality by DESE, tools and resources to use to investigate and select materials, and options for evaluating existing in-house curricula for quality.

  • STE CURATE
    DESE convenes panels of Massachusetts teachers to review and rate evidence on the quality and alignment of specific curricular materials, then publish their findings here for educators across the Commonwealth to consult

  • OpenSciEd in MA
    Since 2018, Massachusetts has been one of 10 partner states in the OpenSciEd consortium that has successfully developed research-based, open-source, equity-centered science instructional materials and professional development designed for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Massachusetts teachers have had the opportunity to field test the units and provide feedback on the units to improve them.

Culturally Responsive Teaching

  • Culturally & Linguistically Sustaining Practices
    This resource explores culturally and linguistically sustaining school practices and provides resources for professional learning.

  • Culturally Responsive Look Fors
    This resource introduces seven focus elements that are observable in a culturally responsive classroom that could be used to support professional learning, observations, feedback, and/or coaching.

    This resource provides individuals with some basic information about licenses and endorsements offered, including general requirements of the license areas.

    This resource provides individuals with some basic information about the licensure process and assist with getting started.
