Ensuring Every Child Thrives

Welcome to Child Nutrition Programs in Massachusetts, where we believe that every child deserves the best start in life. Here, you'll find everything you need to know about how our Federal Child Nutrition Programs work to ensure your children receive healthy, balanced meals that support their growth, learning, and well-being.

Our Commitment to Your Child's Health

We understand that safe and nourishing meals are essential to your child's health and success. Our programs are designed to provide delicious, nutritious meals that meet strict federal guidelines, ensuring your child receives the essential nutrients needed for their development. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, after-school snacks, or summer meals, we're here to support your family's nutritional needs year-round.

Where meals are available:

  • National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP): Fueling learning in public and private K–12 schools through state-sponsored universal free school meals.

  • Child Care Centers: Age-appropriate and nutritious meals served in a type of early education where care takes place in licensed child care centers.

  • Family Day Care: Age-appropriate and nutritious meals served in a type of early education and care takes place in the provider's home

  • Afterschool Snack Program: Nutritious snacks to keep your child energized for after-school activities.

  • SummerEats: This program provides healthy meals when school is out so that no child goes hungry. Use our meal site finder to find meal sites near you!

  • Special Milk Program (SMP): Providing milk to children in schools and childcare institutions not participating in other federal meal service programs.

How It Works

Child Nutrition Programs are designed to be easy and accessible. Meals are offered in a variety of settings including schools, child care centers, after school programs, summer camps, parks and family day care homes. Eligibility for free or reduced-price meals is based on household income, and the application process is straightforward. We also offer resources to help families understand and navigate the options available to them.
