On January 12, DESE's Office for Food and Nutrition Programs released guidance on how designated state and community colleges that host dual enrolled Early College learners can become National School Lunch Program sites under existing district agreements. Early College learners are enrolled in both a school district and a designated state and community college, and many Early College learners spend most, if not all their time, on college campuses. School districts and partnering colleges that have the required capacity can ensure these students retain access to school meals, and designated colleges can receive federal funds for serving reimbursable meals to these students. Interested school districts should contact their assigned DESE School Nutrition Program Consultant for more information.
