Scholarship Award Notification Letters

Students who qualify for the scholarship will receive award letters and further information in the fall or winter of their senior year.

Notification letters are sent to school district offices, who then distribute letters to students and their families. To view the current annual value of the Adams Scholarship at a specific college or university, please visit: John and Abigail Adams Scholarship.

In order to receive the scholarship, students must notify the financial aid office of the Massachusetts public college or university to which they have been accepted and complete the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Questions about why a student did not receive a scholarship or other questions about eligibility should be directed to the Office of Student Assessment Services at mcas@mass.gov .

Class of 2024 Notification

The first round of scholarship award letters were sent to students in the class of 2024 in November 2023, based on results from the spring 2023 MCAS tests. Eligibility in this round was based on the cut scores used in each district to determine eligibility for members of the class of 2024.

A second round of scholarship award letters was sent to students in the class of 2024 in February 2024, when the results from the November 2023 retests became available. In each district, these final awards are based on the top 25% of the entire class of 2024. The top 25% cut score was calculated using scores from the English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science and Technology/Engineering tests.
