FY2024: Partners for Youth Success: Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) — Continuation

Purpose:

The purpose of this state and federally funded continuation grant, is to support previously funded school districts with professional development, coaching and support for implementation of their selected evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention education programs.

Priorities:

The priority of this grant is to support the continued work of districts participating in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 Fund Code (FC) 716/211 grants with implementation and sustainability of programming.

Eligibility:

The following districts, that were awarded a FY2023 FC 716/211 grant are eligible for continuation funding in FY2024 to implement selected curriculum, participate in professional development, receive technical assistance and coaching and plan for sustainability of programming:

  • Berkshire Hills Regional School District
  • Community Day Charter School
  • CREST Collaborative
  • Haverhill Public Schools
  • Pittsfield Public Schools
  • Salem Academy Charter School
  • Veritas Preparatory Charter School

Federal grant fund recipients must adhere to:

Funding:

Approximately $175,000 is available.

This RFP is the governing document for these grant funds.

Funding is contingent upon availability. All dollar amounts listed are estimated/approximate and are subject to change. If more funding becomes available it will be distributed under the same guidelines that appear in this RFP document.

Fund Use:

Funds can be used to:

  • Support release time for staff to attend professional development and to meet about program planning/implementation. (e.g., substitutes or stipends)
  • Purchase evidence-based curricula and related training on the chosen curriculum.
  • Support other costs related to planning for and implementing the chosen curriculum.
Project Duration:

Upon Approval* – 6/30/2024

Pending appropriation and the meeting of grant requirements, awarded grantees may be eligible for continuation grant(s) in Fiscal Year 2025

* Grant start date cannot be prior to DESE receiving a substantially approvable Application Submission as directed in this RFP's Submission Instructions. Goods and Services cannot be procured prior to Grants receiving and approving an application submission. Funds cannot exceed the project duration end date.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until no later than Friday, September 15th. The start date is determined by when a completed application is submitted.

Teacher Assurances. All teachers implementing the curriculum are asked to complete and submit prior to program delivery. A link to the form will be provided upon award.**

A TA/Observation planning log must be submitted for each participating teacher prior to curriculum implementation. A link to this form will be provided upon award.**

DESE will be providing various professional development opportunities, activities and resources throughout the year to support implementation and sustainability of PREP programming and content delivery through integrated approaches that focus on the whole child and comprehensive health. Some activities may include the completion of various tools, action plans and assessments to help guide this work.

** We ask for these forms to be completed to ensure understanding and responsibilities as well as to be able to monitor program implementation for reporting to federal funders.

The final budget the applicant is requesting will be entered directly into EdGrants as part of the application submission process.
