Emergency Licensure, Validity Extension Application — available Friday, February 18th

As announced on January 15, 2022, the Commissioner extended the validity of the Emergency license until June 30, 2023, but some licenses (see below) were not automatically extended.

  • Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities
  • Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities
  • Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ASL/TC)
  • Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Oral/Aural)
  • Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)

Emergency licenses that have been granted in the above six license areas are valid through June 30, 2022. ELAR will be updated allowing individuals with one of these licenses the ability to apply for a no-cost extension as of Friday, February 18th. Please note, at this time the Department is not accepting new applications to obtain an Emergency license.
