Purpose:

The purpose of this federal targeted grant is to assist school districts in improving secondary-level programs that meet the definition of career and technical education as contained in the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act P.L. 115-224 (Perkins V)

Priorities:

The priority is to offer high quality career and technical education programs to students of the Commonwealth, as demonstrated by closing the achievement gap on the Perkins core indicators of performance for populations who are chronically unemployed or underemployed, including special populations.

This grant specifically targets addressing local/regional workforce needs in innovative, high demand, and/or rural topics or regions.

Eligibility:

Secondary Programs reporting students in state-approved Chapter 74 programs otherwise not receiving a Perkins allocation, Perkins formula allocation rounded to the nearest increment of 5k.

Funding:

A total amount of $55,000 is available to eligible applicants.

This RFP is the governing document for these grant funds.

Funding is contingent upon availability. All dollar amounts listed are estimated/approximate and are subject to change. If more funding becomes available, it will be distributed under the same guidelines that appear in this RFP document.

Fund Use:

Funds may be used for services, supplies, equipment, curriculum development and program improvement and delivery expenses. Funds must be used to ensure program quality and build capacity to serve students in CTE programs, aligned to Perkins Allowable Expenses .

Project Duration:

Upon Approval* – June 30, 2024

* Grant start date cannot be prior to DESE receiving a substantially approvable Application Submission as directed in this RFP's Submission Instructions. Goods and Services cannot be procured prior to Grants receiving and approving an application submission. Funds cannot exceed the project duration end date.
