Mathematics | Grade : PK
Domain - Operations and Algebraic Thinking
Cluster - Understand addition as putting together and adding to, and understand subtraction as taking apart and taking from.
[PK.OA.A.1] - Use concrete objects to model real-world addition (putting together) and subtraction (taking away) problems up through five.
- Addition and subtraction within 5, 10, 20, 100, or 1,000
Addition or subtraction of two whole numbers with whole number answers, and with sum or minuend in the range 0–5, 0–10, 0–20, or 0–100, respectively. Example: 8 + 2 = 10 is an addition within 10, 14 – 5 = 9 is a subtraction within 20, and 55 – 18 = 37 is a subtraction within 100. - Common Addition and Subtraction Situations
[PK.CC.C.4] -
Count many kinds of concrete objects and actions up to ten, using one-to-one correspondence, and accurately count as many as seven things in a scattered configuration. Recognize the “one more,” “one less” patterns.
[PreK.LS.1.1] -
Compare, using descriptions and drawings, the external body parts of animals (including humans) and plants and explain functions of some of the observable body parts. Clarification Statement: Examples can include comparison of humans and horses: humans have two legs and horses four, but both use legs to move.
[PreK.LS.1.3] -
Use their five senses in their exploration and play to gather information.
