What is the Education Security Portal (ESP)?
The Education Security Portal (ESP) is a new cloud-based enterprise security portal provided by the Executive Office of Education. The ESP is scheduled to launch in summer 2023 and will include many security features, including multifactor authentication.
The 2023 launch will include all existing applications currently hosted in the DESE Security Portal. In future years, applications for other education agencies including Department of Early Education and Care, Department of Higher Education, and Children’s Trust will also be migrated.
Which applications are being migrated to the Education Security Portal (ESP)?
The 2023 launch will include all existing applications currently hosted in the DESE Security Portal. This includes applications from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as well as the Department of Higher Education.
In future years, applications for other education agencies including Department of Early Education and Care, and Children’s Trust as well as additional applications from the Department of Higher Education, will also be migrated from their existing platforms to the new ESP.

Post Go Live | Reactivation Requirement Begins | Existing users who do not register during the open registration period will be required to reactivate their legacy DESE Security Portal usernames to log into the new ESP. |
Will I have access to the same applications in the new security portal?
The new portal will not impact the permissions for current users or the applications they currently access with their login credentials. You will have access to the same applications with the same roles in the Education Security Portal as you do currently in the ESE Security Portal.
Why are some users required to reactivate their accounts?
The new Education Security Portal requires that each username is linked with a verified email. DESE Security Portal users who did not register for the ESP before launch need to go through the reactivation process to link a verified email with their username before they can log in.
What are the steps needed to complete the reactivation process?
See the step-by-step guidance.
