Postsecondary Career Technical Education

This page provides information and resources about the Commonwealth's Postsecondary Career Technical Education programs. In addition to overseeing career technical education at the secondary level, the Office for College, Career, and Technical Education administers federal Perkins and state career technical education programming to all fifteen Massachusetts community colleges, two city colleges, and secondary schools that offer postsecondary CTE programs. Currently, there are postsecondary Chapter 74-approved programs in some secondary schools, and Non-Chapter 74 CTE programs in community colleges and city colleges. These CTE programs aim to meet the Commonwealth's labor market needs by providing an opportunity for adults to train for and earn credentials towards skilled occupations.

Postsecondary institutions and the state are required to assess the effectiveness of CTE programs through the collection of student enrollment and performance data. The data is disaggregated by populations of students and program and can be used to reflect on and improve the CTE student experience. This collection and analysis has the potential to foster improvement at the program, institution, and state-wide levels.
