Mathematics | Grade : 4

Domain - Geometry

Cluster - Draw and identify lines and angles, and classify shapes by properties of their lines and angles.

[4.G.A.3] - Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.

    Predecessor Standards:

    • 1.G.A.2
Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape. [Note: Students do not need to learn formal names such as "right rectangular prism"]

    Successor Standards:

    No Successor Standards found.

    Same Level Standards:

    • 4.PS.4.1
Develop a model of a simple mechanical wave (including sound) to communicate that waves (a) are regular patterns of motion along which energy travels and (b) can cause objects to move. Clarification Statement: Examples of models could include diagrams, analogies, and physical models. State Assessment Boundary: Interference effects, electromagnetic waves, or non-periodic waves are not expected in state assessment.
    • 4.PS.4.2
Develop a model to describe that light must reflect off an object and enter the eye for the object to be seen. State Assessment Boundary: Specific colors reflected and seen, the cellular mechanisms of vision, angles of incidence and reflection, or how the retina works are not expected in state assessment.
