[RL.8.7] - Analyze the extent to which an audio, filmed, or staged production of a story, drama, or poem stays faithful to or departs from the original, evaluating the choices made by the director or performer(s).

  • Analysis (Analyze)
    In general, a careful examination of the parts of a whole and their relationships to one another; in language arts, a study of how words, sentences, paragraphs, stanzas, or sections of a text affect its meaning.
  • Drama
    Literature in the form of a script intended for performance before an audience; also called theatre or a play when written for the stage. A drama usually presents its story largely through the dialogue and actions of its characters.
  • Evaluate
    Judge or determine the significance, worth, or quality of something. See Assess

  • Poem/poetry
    Creative response to experience reflecting a keen awareness of language, often characterized by a rhyme scheme or by rhythm far more regular than that of prose.
