Cluster - Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas

[SL.7.4] - Present claims and findings, emphasizing salient points in a focused, coherent manner with pertinent descriptions, facts, details, and examples; use appropriate vocabulary, eye contact, volume, and pronunciation.   • Claim
    Statement taking a position on what is true, usually one with which reasonable people might disagree. See Argument in Text Types and Purposes, Evidence, Thesis.
  • Description
    An author’s use of words to illustrate a scene, event, phenomenon, object, or character; descriptions in literary texts usually contain carefully chosen imagery that appeals to the audience’s sense of sight, sound, smell, touch, or taste.
  • Vocabulary
    Words known or used by a person or group, representing concepts or ideas and meanings mutually understood; also, all the words of a language. See Academic language/vocabulary, Domain-specific language/vocabulary.
