An author’s use of words to illustrate a scene, event, phenomenon, object, or character; descriptions in literary texts usually contain carefully chosen imagery that appeals to the audience’s sense of sight, sound, smell, touch, or taste. - Oral

Creative response to experience reflecting a keen awareness of language, often characterized by a rhyme scheme or by rhythm far more regular than that of prose.

Clarification Statements: Examples could include an object sliding on rough vs. smooth surfaces; Observations of temperature and speed should be qualitative.
