Student Growth

Student growth percentiles (SGPs) measure change in student achievement over time. While MCAS achievement levels and scaled scores tell us how well a student has mastered grade-level standards in a given year, SGPs measure how much a student learned from one year to the next compared to other students in the same grade with similar previous MCAS achievement. Massachusetts reports growth scores for students in grades 4–8 and 10 in ELA and math.
